About
Born and raised in the Midwest, I was forced to find things to keep myself busy during the winters while I grew up. Much of what kept me entertained the most was the enjoyment of films and television. I know most everyone enjoys watching films, but the more I watched, the more I wanted to know how they did certain things I saw. I started reading on special effects and model making and over the years, built up to the cinematography, editing and writing. Now older, I have a love for the entire filmmaking process and try to make a few independent films of my own (some of which can be viewed in the VIDEO section of this very website.
It’s my love of movies that has driven what I do in my free time ever since my teenage years. During my time in High School, I acted in all school run plays (to which my sophomore year, I was doing lead roles to everyone’s enjoyment). When I wasn’t acting, I was starting to dab in writing and filmmaking. With no budget besides what little I could scrounge up from doing chores, I was able to put together my first “film”. Even though the movie was never completed as I had wanted, it opened a new hobby and since then I’ve written, directed and (sadly) starred in 6 more movies. None of the movies are studio recognized films, but little things I wanted to create to test my ever growing knowledge of the film industry.
Besides making movies myself, I am the co-founder of an independent film company (soon to be properly formed) called Burntout Films. Together we’ve made three short films, two of which have been entered into the 48 Hour Film Project and won awards. The films themselves can be viewed in the Video section on this site as well. We are planning on doing more short films and perhaps even start a short web based ‘sitcom’ within the next year.
An area that won’t be seen on this website is my part-time hobby of writing short stories. Since my first movie back in high school, I have worked on creating a fictional city located on the eastern coast of Wisconsin called New Prairie. Inside this fictional city is a multitude of stories and events that one day, I hope, will be expressed through studio recognized films, TV shows, comics and novels. The reason any further information is not available on this website should be common sense, for I’m protecting my ideas from being released until I can properly do it myself.
